Hello my fellow foodies! I recently stumbled upon this amazing dish from Sabah, Malaysian Borneo and I can't stop drooling over it. It's called Nasi Kuning and it's a dish that will blow your mind. I mean, just look at this picture

Recipe

Ingredients:

2 cups of rice
1 tablespoon of turmeric powder
1 lemongrass stalk
4 kaffir lime leaves
3 pandan leaves
1 cup of coconut milk
1 teaspoon of salt

Instructions:

Wash the rice until water runs clear and soak for 30 minutes
Mix turmeric powder with 1 tablespoon of water and set aside
In a pot, sauté lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, and pandan leaves until fragrant
Add rice into the pot and mix well
Add coconut milk, turmeric mixture, and salt into the pot and stir. Bring to a boil
Lower the heat, cover the pot, and let it cook for 15 minutes
Turn off the heat and let it rest for another 10 minutes before serving

Trust me when I say that this dish is worth every effort. The aroma of the lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, and pandan leaves mixed with the coconut milk and turmeric is simply heavenly. Nasi Kuning is usually served during special occasions like weddings, birthdays, or festivals. But who says we can't indulge in something special once in a while, right?

If you're feeling adventurous, you can also add some toppings like fried chicken, beef rendang, or sambal. And oh, don't forget to squeeze some lime juice on top for that extra zing!
